Thais have an interesting concept of friendship. They believe there are "Phuan Gin" [eating friends] or "Phuan Len" [play friends] versus "Phuan Taay" [die friends]. 'Eating friends' feast when you feast and are not really friends. The idea of a 'play friend' is "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours." 'Die friends,' who will be your friend for life, are very rare.
