I'm now Sharon Murphy,
and living in Portland, Oregon.
I returned from my brief trip to Thailand to get a teaching job
for that fall, and taught middle school in Wisconsin for the next
four years. There, I met my husband of now 35 years, Paul Murphy.
We moved to Chicago after he finished law school where we lived
for the next 10 years and had two children. My husband was a partner
with the law firm of Isham, Lincoln, and Beale.
In 1984 we moved to Portland, Oregon where he headed up the local
branch of Heller Ehrman, a San Francisco based law firm. He is an
energy and regulatory attorney and now has his own law firm.
I have been selling residential Real Estate here
in Portland for 18 years. I have been successful in building a strong
client base, and do a lot of repeat business now. I work with Windermere,
specialize in close in neighborhoods, and have production in the
top 5% of my company routinely.
My children are grown. My daughter is married and
lives in Denver. She and her husband work for Level Three Communications.
My son graduated from Wharton School of Business, and now works
with Bain Business Consultants in San
Francisco. Both went to Bates College in Lewiston, Maine for undergraduate.
We love living in Portland and have a place in
central Oregon at Black Butte Ranch as well. We still ski and golf,
of course. We have two Old English Sheep Dogs, and love to hike
with them in the Cascades of the great Northwest.
For my 50th birthday, we successfully climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in
Africa. Our group was written up in Outside Magazine, December 1997
issue "Humbly
Goes the Mountain Man". We all made it
to the summit--19,560 feet elevation. It was
quite a difficult excursion.
This spring, I sold a house to a man moving here
from Singapore. His business partner spoke fluent Thai so I tried
out my rusty language skills on him and he didn't understand a word
I said. Big surprise!!!
