| Richard Williams is currently ESL Instructor in the Dept. of International
Languages at the Community
College Of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas, NV. He’s been there
for about 3 years.
As a Peace Corps volunteer Richard taught TEFL at the Department
of Technical and Economic Cooperation in Bangkok, Thailand for two
years
After his stint in Thailand he attended the University of Hawaii
and got a M.A. in ESL, on an East-West Center Grant)
1972: EFL Lecturer and teacher trainer for Georgetown University's
program in Spain. Trained Spanish elementary teachers of EFL and
taught EFL to students at the Escuela Normal in Lérida (Lleida),
Spain. This intensive, one-year program was administered by Georgetown
U. and funded by the State Department.
In 1973 taught in Saudi Arabia for one year.
From there he traveled to Indonesia as a Fulbright Lecturer at
Medan Lauguage Center in Northern Sumatra.
1n 1975 He returned to the states and spent three years as an ESL
Lecturer in intensive ESL and American Culture at Lewis& Clark
College, in Portland, Oregon. While there he took a brief detour
and taught at the University of Galati in Rumania for a spell on
a second Fulbright Grant.
In 1978 he moved to Douglas Arizona and taught ESL and Humanities
to foreign students at Cochise College.
Then in 1981 he packed his bags and headed for Guam where he taught
Taught freshman English, Spanish, and ESL at the University of Guam.
He stayed on Guam until 1985.
The following year he went to work for a Fulbright program in Egypt
. He spent 5 years there teaching at various universities.
In 1991 he went to Czechoslovakia in another State Department sponsored
program and was involved in re-training teachers of Russian to become
English teachers.
In 1993 he moved back to the states and was ESL Instructor at Guilford
College in Greensboro, NC.
Two years later, in 1995 he became ESL Instructor at Shenandoah
University in Winchester, Virginia.
Four years later in 1999 he started a private ESL tutoring program
in Gainesville, FL which he operated for 3 years.
And from there he moved cross country to Las Vegas, Nevada, where
he lives today. He has many of his courses for his students online
at his website.

He says he gets a lot of visitors in Vegas and would welcome any
PCV from Thai 27. Most of the visitors so far come from Portland
(friends from college days) or were teachers with him in other countries.
